Whoopi Goldberg has signed on to lead opposite Jermaine Fowler in an ABC multi-camera comedy pilot, Delores & Jermaine
The pilot, and potential series, will film in New York City where Goldberg lives and currently co-hosts the daytime talk show The View, Deadline reported
Sources tell EW the scheduling is being worked out, but that the pilot will likely shoot around The View schedule and that she will still be moderator
Based on the life of comedian Jermaine Fowler, the multi-camera comedy features an odd couple for the new generation. Fowler stars as a millennial with big ideas, but very little drive, who moves in with his estranged grandmother, a strict, football-loving, former D.C. cop who needs his youthful enthusiasm in her life as much as he needs her old school parenting. Danny Chun and Fowler will write and executive-produce with Michael Rotenberg and Avi Gilbert
Goldberg would also executive produce the series, according to Deadline
If the show were picked up, it would be Goldberg’s first full-time series since her season-long NBC show, Whoopi, ended in 2004.
