Famous Country Singer Carrie Underwood, is a Christian and an American patriot. This time, she’s standing up for our police officers, and she just did something amazing for an officer’s K-9 companion! WHOA!
Working in McIntosh County (Georgia) Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Kevin Branscum has been partnered with Gino, a German shepherd, since 2012. A supposedly simple procedure was scheduled for Gino, but it quickly turned into a much more serious AND EXPENSIVE issue.
So Carrie Underwood saved the day, by auctioning off 2 guitars to pay the dog’s medial bills! So classy:
We went to the vet to treat an ear hematoma Gino had,” Branscum told the publication. “We scheduled surgery to drain the blood out. They were prepping for surgery and the plan was to put him to sleep and clean his teeth. Before putting him to sleep they had to do some blood work.” With the blood work, however, it was found that Gino had contracted heartworms from a mosquito bite. The surgery is on hold for now, but the treatment for Gino’s heartworms has become a growing issue (and debt) for his human partner. “We’ve been going to vets for months, and we’ll be done with treatment in May,” Branscum said. “Treatment includes pills and injections. We started a pill which he has to take for 30 days, and he has 120 pills to take. March 9th he starts injections. There’s three altogether. Once he’s done, they will run test.”The heartworm treatment alone will cost $2000, with an additional $100 for every vet visit.Thankfully, with Underwood’s donation, Branscum is able to breathe a little easier. “I’m grateful,” he said.” There’s really no words for it. It’s awesome. Being that she’s from around here makes it even that much more special. I was definitely surprised.”
